[2.0.17] Fix message_die for multiple errors MOD

Post by Extensions Robot » Tue Oct 19, 2004 3:07 pm

MOD Name: Fix message_die for multiple errors MOD
Author: markus_petrux
MOD Description: This MOD replaces the "message_die() was called multiple times" message with something more useful. It reports a list of all "those" error messages with all relevant information. So that may help board administrators to identify the problem.

MOD Version: 1.0.4 (Updated 09/12/05)

MOD Validated/Released

Notes:
This MOD allows admins to see every error that was called when you get the error that says 'message_die() was called multiple times". This makes it easier to pinpoint the problem.

Thank, Eric :)

The Beta Topic for this MOD was here:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Technical Comments: Actually, the "message_die() was called multiple times" message is unlikely to happen on a fresh phpBB board, but it might happen related to MODs, depending on how they are coded.
With this MOD, instead of a blank page with this message:
message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?
you'll get something like:
Critical Error!
message_die() was called multiple times.
A very handy little one, which will spend hours in searching where a mistake could stand, from a new template failing to an error during a mod application. A must-have ;).
I would certinally agree. This one is in my support forum toolkit.
I considered this a while ago, but didn't realize it was actually possible >_>
This MOD installed into my 2.0.10 board without any trouble. I don't have a clue what to expect or if it works yet, and I hope I never have to find out the hard way. It is nice that if a problem arises, that this MOD might prove to be more beneficial in resolving the problem than the default was...
If there is a problem, will this still report the errors above the header but in more detail or does it report them elsewhere???
Rename your phpbb_config table using phpMyadmin, and you will see it in action :).
I don't think I'm in that big of a hurry to see it in action. You might want to be careful with your suggestions. There may be people out there who will actually try it without thinking about the consequences... :twisted:
message_die() prints out the header/footer "if possible". So, you never know...
