MOD Validated/Released

Notes:
This MOD makes it so that guests can't view email addresses. This prevents spiders from spidering your site looking for email addresses to spam because they won't be able to see what the email addresses are.

er... I don't get this one : using the standard ACP config option "User email via board", all email adresses are already hidden without no modifications, and not only for guests :?: Do I miss something ?

You're right, but the goals here are:
  1. The users don't send e-mail via board (I don't like this feature)
  2. The users can continue to share their e-mail addresses with registered users

All email links invisible to even registered members

Post by interested123 » Wed Nov 24, 2004 5:55 am

Thanks so much for the mod antispambot.mod.

I wanted a little addition. I wanted to make all the email links not only invisible to anonymous viewers but also to registered members. I want that the email links in all the places are only visible to the administrator.

Kindly please do help me. What changes do I make to this mod to make the above possible or is another mod available for the same? Can anyone please help me?

Thanks a lot.

Please give me a few days and I'll make a little documentation explaining how to do that. Or if someone feels quicker and have more time, I won't mind !

Hello! = Thank you so much Weird Alexis. I am about to launch the new forum but I will wait for your documentation because it is very important for me to ensure the full privacy of the emails of my members.

Should I implement the present mod now and then later incorporate the changes which you give or would it be better to wait to implement the new documented mod directly? I will do as you say.

By the way, your forum style is great. Thanks for the help and warm regards.

Nice mod, but is there a way to make it so it will hide the msn field as well? Also I noticed it does hide the email, but the email image is still there, just it doesn't link to anything. Do you mean for the email image to still be there. If you do could you post an alternative set of code for those of us who'd like the email images not to display altogether please? :)

Ahh, an update to my post above, its actually a problem with Firefox. Something needs to be change for it to work in Firefox, it does get rid of the email image in IE though.

Edit: Ahh, I just noticed it only hides the email image for admins and mods, but not for reg users.

Edit 2: Bleh! lol, ignore all of that. I take most of all that back. Its fine the way it is. Although I would like to see the addition of it doing the same thing for the msn field. =)

Dear Sergio, the image "e-mail" is still visible, but is not linked with the mail address. Instead, there is an alt text saying "[ Invisible ]".
