No language pack of British English for phpBB 3.1.x?

I tried to download the British English language pack for phpBB 3.1.x from this address: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/tran ... h_english/

This pack is only for phpBB 3.0.12. Any chance to get the pack for phpBB 3.1.x?

British English is included when you download phpBB. You should not need a language pack.

My forum is French by default. I therefore downloaded the complete French package from phpbb-fr in order to install my forum.

British English is therefore a language which I wish to add. It's be nice to get a link towards the official language pack for British English in order to be able to download it for 3.1.x!

I know, but I downloaded phpBB from here: http://www.phpbb-fr.com/telechargements/ - "Pack Français" which includes only the French version.

And I can't find the British English language pack on phpBB.com for 3.1.x.

The only thing I'm saying is that there is no separate British English language pack available on phpbb.com, the official link https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/tran ... h_english/ leading to a 3.0.x version of this language pack.

Many international users will install phpBB in their own language and, perhaps, they'll wish to add the British English pack. This is not currently available on phpbb.com

You can download a fresh set of phpBB files from the Downloads page.
From that package, only upload the language/en folder to your board. That should do it.

What you can do is download the phpBB software from here and retrieve the British English folder from the language directory.

I followed your advice, downloaded the phpBB software, retrieved the British English folder from the language directory and uploaded it on my server.

British English is now installed and recognised - thanks!

But I've noticed something weird:

In the ACP, under Customize/Language Management/Language Packs/, if I click on British English, I get this message:

Local name: British English

Language pack author: phpBB Limited
The following language files are missing from the “British English” language folder

» LICENSE
» VERSION.md

Where are those missing files?!

I have the very same problem with my Spanish language pack:

Language pack details
Español (Tú)
English name: Spanish (Casual Honorifics)
Local name: Español (Tú)
ISO code: es-x-tu
Language pack author: phpBB España
The following language files are missing from the “Español (Tú)” language folder
Missing language files
» VERSION.md
» composer.json

Here, two files are missing (not three).

The only language pack that doesn't produce this error message is the French Language pack (the local version downloaded from phpBB-fr).

I may be overtly perfectionist, but I don't think it is normal to get error messages when one downloads official language packs from phpBB.com.

I just want to solve this irritating problem!

sounds like something that whoever put together the french version of phpbb created. apparently , the 3.1 versions of the languages from here do not have those files in them.

the phpbb version that you get from here does not look for those files since those files are not supposed to be in the language download to begin with.

I don't agree, because (believe it or not) there are a lot of people in the world who don't understand english. Those people will have the need to download localized versions of phpbb from sites communicating in their language.
I agree that even those localized versions should (as a fallback) include the english language pack, but why has it become a problem for phpbb.com to provide a current english language pack in the download area?

I don't think it's a problem.. It just hasn't been added.

So I've created a ticket in the Website Tracker for this issue.
