I'm so excited... but I think it wouldn't be released until the stats will be close to those in 2007...

I don't think so, about 10 years since then and the internet/habits changed a lot (see Social Web).
I do have still a capture of that great Olympus Day in details.

We had more for the 3.1 release. We'd done lots of load testing in advance and it was good fun watching google analytics in real-time mode when we did the release (and not having the site fall over).

Is there any real benefit from going 3.1.10>3.2 apart from php7? I've already been using fontawesome (Locally rather than externally I might add!) for years so that's a kinda mute point for me.

Worried as I've combined all CSS into one or two minimised files, and made various tweaks here and there in the other PHP and HTML files.

The big one is the PHP 7 support. Unless you're running your own server it is likely your hosting provider will drop PHP 5.x support sometime in the future. There are quite a few other interesting things as well.

great progress other than several grammatical issues on that page

my mother was pretty much an English teacher so i notice things like that... including the fact that i do not capitalize what needs to be capitalized. but that is completely intentional

Please Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems that the best way to upgrade would be...

1. Backup/Download your entire PHPBB "as is" before doing anything. I do this constantly as a practice anyway.Especially "prior" to making development changes of any kind. Worse case scenario -I have to re-upload the known working version if I mess something up.

2. Concerning the 3.2 Upgrade..after I have completed step 1, I would likely elect to disable my installed extensions and then perform the upgrade to 3.2

3. Re-enable the extensions one by one to see what works and what does not.

4. Any extensions that do not work, check with developer to see if he or she has an updated version compatible with 3.2. (It may turn out that some are no longer even needed.)

5. If the end results of the PHPBB 3.2 and the extensions are deemed to be an unsatifactory result - no problem, reupload the step one version and await extension developers to catch up.

I would have already upgraded to 3.2, but the "PAGES" extension is a "must have" for me, so I will patently wait until the developer gets the 3.2 compatible version out (I know its being worked on). ;)

I "think" that is a reasonable and simple plan.

Reading some of the forums (not so much this particular one) I feel badly for the PHPBB and extension developers who work so hard. Many of them provide us with a great deal of not only product, but support as well. All for zero compensation, only to be chastised by some of the users, demanding that everything works NOW.
Hopefully the above plan can alleviate some of that.
My expressed gratitude for all the Dev teams and what they do for us! :D

@ScottyPC

The only thing that you missed out is to try the whole thing on a test board first - that way you can iron out the problems beforehand and the actual update process will take far less time.

Hi David63 ...test board? Could you elaborate on that a bit...I was thinking that once Step 1 was complete, then essentially I would be working with a test board. I'm certain you are trying to tell me something beneficial that I'm missing or overlooking... or it could just be that I'm almost as sharp as a marble.

What I mean is that you another board running in parallel to your live board where you do all your testing prior to upgrading. This can either be on a hosted server or run locally on your PC. That way you can spend as much time "testing" as you need without affecting your live board.
