What is the list of cookies that phpBB uses ?

Post by raykai »

to comply with cookie laws i need to list the names of the cookies that my site uses and say the purpose of each cookies and the duration that the cookies stay on a users device.

use wondering if someone has the list of cookies phpbb 3.2 uses as I cant seem to find a list on the docs.

so far i found on my phpbb install this list of cookies:

cookieconsent_status
phpbb3_(name set in backend)_k
phpbb3_(name set in backend)_sid
phpbb3_(name set in backend)_u
phpbb3_(name set backend)_k

but i don't know what they're used for or if im missing some.

Some help would be appreciated.

  • _u = user ID, in your case 1361704 or 1 for a guest.
  • _sid = session ID, will change from time to time and identifies you, combined with _u.
  • _k = session key, only used for "remember me" feature to not always re-log in.
Your fifth one listed is a typo from you, the first one listed is not bound to phpBB.

I note that no phpBB cookie stores personal information, and therefore, as I understand it, they are exempt from the European law.

I've run/looked after several boards in the U.K.for a long time and never been asked for that information and as per Steve above.

Hi, In my case my forum will be in Spain and only for that reason I must to comply the law writting a list of cookies showing the name, duration and purpose of every cookie. It's compulsory although the cookie doesn't store personal information. Im sure.

Does anyone have the cookie list of phpbb 3.2? Raykai, did you get it?

This is still most peculiar to me, whoever is asking you this question can go and look for themselves, if they know what they’re doing. The UK & Spain both follow European law (for now) so how is Spain different?
