Is it easy to convert my old Phpbb 2.0.22 to the latest 3.2.x

Converting from other board software? Good decision! Need help? Have a question about a convertor? Wish to offer a convertor package? Post here.

I see from your post frequency that you're concerned, but there's no immediate need for worry.

Even if the conversion process doesn't work, it won't harm the existing phpBB2 database. It only tries to copy (convert) the data towards to the new phpBB 3.x install. If it fails, you can just try again.

Additionally, could you please keep in mind that we have a six hour bumping rule on this website. If you have any new information within that time frame, please edit your older post. We won't forget about you.

Ok, so I guess this will not be considered as bumping as I am posting after you. Here's an update if someone here would be kind enough to investigate and follow my case.

After getting serious of 500 internal errors I gave up and started the conversion from scratch.... however i did not manage to reach again step 17/29 as in my previous post. Why this inconsistency???

The situation is that when I start a conversion, I advance page by page Filling table phpbb_attachments:
skip_rows = xxx: This advances by 250 skip_rows every page 250...502...758... etc

When the count arrives at around 2500 I get an internal error, then :

Code: Select all

Information
General Error:
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Table 'marzmif4_mwpforum2017.phpbb_userconv' doesn't exist [1146]

SQL

SELECT username_clean FROM phpbb_userconv GROUP BY username_clean HAVING COUNT(user_id) > 1

If I refresh I get the same error all the time. I tried 3-4 times resume conversion and no luck. My old board is not very huge http://maltawildplants.com/forum/index. ... 88bcf8ed90

If i dont remember wrong, the error you have is becuase mysql configuration.
The best you can do is doing the conversion offline in your computer using xampp or something.

Thanks for the tips but I have managed to convert it to 3.0.14 and it is running fine, however I have several Spam attacks, apparently on the same forum topic that I have disabled my board.

I guess I have to convert to 3.2.x although if there is a solution for blocking spam on the current 3.0.14, I would try it until I decide to convert when I am less busy. The spammers become members (without any email notification) and post on the same topic. I had some 10/day so Its quite nuiassance

Thanks

I lost the touch of ACP but I think I have to check from Forum permissions.
I have this screensnapshot setting for the Forum.

I am having lot of users becoming members. Now I changed the setting that admin has to confirm new user registration, and maybe I blocked the spammers for a while but they are still are bypassing the spam countermeasure (3D grafic) and become inactive users. (unless they are human agents!)

what can I do :-(
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The graphic captcha are not any good. You should be using a non-Googleable Q&A.
With Admin activation, those inactive spammers would not be able to post until they are activated, unless you are allowing Guests to post.

Return to “[3.2.x] Convertors”
