The names are probably taken from phpbb_profile_lang because when I changed the value of the lang_name field in this table it changed in UCP.

Edit2:
You can create a new CPF field called phpbb_LOCATION where LOCATION in your language. I checked, it works, but... the difficulty will be if you need diacritics.

Froddelaar wrote: Fri Mar 23, 2018 3:29 pm & in UCP, the "Location" field cannot be translated, I see no language string for that in the files.
That's a native string, common.php
'LOCATION' => 'Location',

You may override it I guess, in ACP/users / profilefields / phpbb_location ...

at the bottom of that page http://prntscr.com/ivjv4n
It's translated in the language/nl/common.php file

Code: Select all

'LOCATION' => 'Locatie',
But still in English in this ext
Look at my screenshot, instead of LOCATION digit Locatie, what happens?
But that will also show "Locatie" to English users .. ?
At the top/left corner of that box there is the iso code of the language you are bound to override.. see http://prntscr.com/ivk08h

Moreover, you could create a "fake user" for your testings, set its language to EN and see ;)

I am assuming that it will work this way, I didn't say it is for sure.

You're the tester, gimme the answer we all are looking for :)

phpbb_location already exists, natively.

Each language has its entry in this table (phpbb_profile_lang). Probably David disregards the lang_id in this table.

Changing string in ACP CPF as per the above does not add any entry to that table. http://prntscr.com/ivk6v3

You can override that string as I said on a per lang basis (Board's lang), it just overrides the native language/template var (makes it unused).
Tested... http://prntscr.com/ivk5px It shows the field if a value was selected, like "berlin" so to speak..

Or else set to yes Show field if no value was selected:

Field CPF description You can change from ACP it is no problem, but here is some error (in extension) - the same applies to the USERNAME description. Displays the name from the first installed language.
I had two languages (lang_id = 1, lang_id = 2). It showed from the first (lang_id = 1). I removed the first one. It showed the second (lang_id = 2) which became the first one. I turned on the first one, it became the second one (lang_id = 3). The names were from the first installed (lang_id = 2).

That's probably something (as you supposed) to be checked on the code on a per user/lang basis, indeed.

I don't know the code yet, just interested because I see I can make an add-on for this extension, maybe in the future.

Sorry, I noticed it before you posted this one, as you can see I have already changed my quoted text above, without notices. ;)

Nothing changed.. I think it would be better if this language string is added to this ext ..
Because now we are just making it to complicated for all users with a different language

Go to "ACP->User and groups->Custom profile fields-> phpbb_location-> settings" and change it in language options for every installed language.

No problem :) But USERNAME is only in first installed language. I don't know how can change it.

I think I have lost track of this. Are we all happy with the CPF field names for multiple languages?

Not sure what the problem is with USERNAME but I have added it to the language file.

Will take a look at the external link issue - it is not an extension that I have any knowledge of as it is not something that I use.

I would suggest that you hold off on translations for a while as there are a lot of changes in the language files.

Not sure I understand this. That extension will open an external link in a new window/tab but there are no external links on a normal phpBB index page and I cannot see any problem when that extension is installed

At the bottom I have some external links
https://www.muziekpromo.net
When you click on them you get a popup from your extension. That users need to accept the terms before they can click on links. But the link still opens after closing the popop message. So this is in conflict with the privacy settings of this ext..
