[3.2] Fake User

Post by back4ever » Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:46 pm

Hi

Mfg

You need to post in English.

If you're asking for an extension that makes it look like there are more people than there really are, I don't know of one, probably because it's a bit of a waste of time. You need real content for real people to interact with.

That's part of the job of getting a forum started.

Get friends to post. Get the links out there (without spamming on similar sites). There is no magic solution. You have to work really hard at it.

There's a huge topic here about it
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=362219

Making it all fake can backfire badly if people find out.

... and a board full of fake users with no one posting looks even worse than a new board with no users.

Your board will only get traffic (and therefore users) if it supplies a demand that other boards do not.

Creating a board and just hoping everyone will flock to it is a waste of time. You need good content that other boards do not have. Maybe ask your friends to join and post. You need to put in the work.

You could use the Feed Post bot to retrieve and post content automatically. You would need to create a user account which you would then assign as the "Feed User ID". That would be a "fake user". You could create several user accounts and assign each to a separate RSS feed.

You can do this yourself. Download add user extension and add as many as you want or you can wait i don't know for how long and not even get a request response.
About messing/faking with online session.. don't think it's a good idea, but maybe someone will be interested in creating something like that.

why do you think that more people will register and then start posting just because they see a lot of registered users but no posts.

all you will do is show that you are fake and you will get nobody to register or post etc.

do the work. whatever your board is about, make a lot of relevant content filled posts about the subject.

get friends/family to register and post. go to other boards about the same type of subject and register and post on those boards. when you are allowed, post links back to your board in your signature or in your posts.

you will have not luck if you try to fake it. if your board subject is not interesting enough to attrack people then don't bother creating it or worrying about getting more members etc.

If you just want the total to look bigger, sit and register some accounts for an hour. That takes less time than it would for someone to write some code to make them in the first place.

Will it help you get new members? No.
Will it look fake? Yes
Because you'll have 100 members and no one has posted.

You need content. Lots and lots of content. Get posting (that's a far more productive way to spend the hour). Get your friends posting. That's the only way to make it work. There is no magic formula to starting a site but there are certain things you need to do and can't fake.

I do not recommend this.

Respectfully, what others have advised you about making your forum interesting and doing the work necessary to convince people to join your forum, is the best thing to do.

Anything is possible given time to code it. You just might find it hard locating someone with time to spare to make something that serves no purpose.

Do you understand that this will NOT get you more members to register?

you could have made a lot of posts in your own board in the time you have spent here asking for something that will not help you at all.

do the work, or forget about having a board because you will just be wasting your time.

luck,
robert
