Where do I connect with designers for paid jobs?

I am interested in paying for a custom style to be created, but I can't approach any random designers as they don't know how to work with phpBB. Is there somewhere I can find people interested?

Just keep in mind that if you ask for a custom theme, a lot of the extensions won't work properly or better said display properly on your board.

This was a big bummer for me after I purchased some premium themes.

Now I am back with the default theme.

the main reason a style (not theme) would not work with a given extension is if the "events" that extension needs are not there.
the style designer should offer to update their styles for phpbb updates as well as extensions, either for free or paid etc.

I dunno the reason, I just know you have to request it from the style creator and if he does not do it, then you can't use that extension.

true. however, it really isn't that difficult to update most styles yourself as long as you are not too far out of date.

the changes are always available here and you can use a text editor to open/edit the files to add the new events etc.

But I think some css will have to be added too for many extensions.

The problem with styles and extensions is twofold.

1. Extensions are, in general, designed to work with prosilver based styles but some styles are not prosilver based and this is where the problems start, and in fact with some styles it is not possible to make some extensions work due to the way in which they have been created (I am not saying that there is anything wrong with them). This has been, and probably always will be, an issue - maybe it will be less of a problem with the "new" style in phpBB 4.0

2. The other problem is that a style has to be kept up to date with each released version of phpBB which if it is prosilver based is not that big a problem to do by anyone, but for a non prosilver style then it could be a problem.

The answer is that if you are requesting a custom style then you should insist that it is prosilver based.
