using the auto update is usually only for cases where you have been editing the core php files.

if you have not been doing that then the recommended method is the file replacement method.

And it the case of a jump from 3.2 to 3.3 the probablility of the file edits being compatible is greatly reduced and I personally think it's a bad (if not very bad) idea to use the autoupdate from 3.2 to 3.3.

The recommended method is probably the easiest method but there is nothing wrong with the auto update, I did already 6 or 7 updates with the auto update and had only a few minor issues.

And would have a lot more problems if I had used the full update method.
Just replacing the .htaccess without warning is one of them.

Think I'll wait a bit before I update. I've only just recently updated from 3.0.14 to 3.2.8 (literally a few weeks ago) and everything is stable now here.

Also need to ensure all the extensions I use are compatible. One of them that I use is the Postimage extension and that is only currently showing 3.2 as the latest version supported, so don't want to take any chances right now.

I see that Christian has updated his Milk theme to work with this new update which is good to know as I'm using that.
