[BETA] UOT (Users Online Today)

Post by rhs98 » Thu Jan 06, 2005 5:07 pm

The latest updated and compacted / fixed version of my mod.

What it does:
Shows who's been online today - i.e. this calendar day. Mouse over the name in the list to see when they were last on.

Download here

Demo here

example images:

from admin view - note Si is marked as hidden...
Image

from user view - note the mouse is missing from the screenshot, it is hovering over christopher

This mod is much improved from the last version.

An "innovative" new feature - the logo will turn red when you have an out of date version, and stay normal colour otherwise. Cool huh?

I'll try and update this post and check it often. Please leave any comments or bugs on my blog entry for this.

whats the differences?

It looks similar - but it doesn't tell you when they were last on (mouse over a name on my demo). Mine is also more compact.

[edit]

I've done some updates so it now shows user colours - i.e. mod / admin / etc

Ah, the problem is in the language file.

Sorry my fault!

edit your language file (language/lang_english/lang_main.php) replacing the two lines that were inserted (the last ones unless you've added more mods) with:

Code: Select all

$lang['UOT_title'] = 'Users online today';
$lang['UOT_none'] = 'None';
Download file has been updated.

I'm just combining them now - I like the idea of having both displayed! 8)

i dont like the mod installed right now at my forum i installed ur mod which is damn good but it had some features missing.

if it is possible plz add this feature in the next update as well:

user online text: which is being added by u
hidden users: so that the hidden members dont display in the users online today list.

and this will become the perfect mod then :)

Hey great MOD, just installed there and it works perfectly.
Question though - on the index page my Admins are set as black for the color, so if I underline an admins name - the underline will also be black.

How did you manage to get the underline red? it's cool as *----* :D

Right, updated version is out, fixed/updated the following:

Hidden users are now hidden, except if your a admin - then they are shown but with hidden appened to the end.

The colouring problem that was noticed in the above post is fixed.

The number of users online in that day is shown too.

Added an example of how it looks image to the first post:

example image - note this is an admin viewing it hidden users don't appear to normal users:

Enjoy.

After lunch I'll do a bit of work on a control panel for it - I want to add the following features - tell me if you can think of any...

-Admin selectable sort order, by time last on, rank, name (currently by name)
-Show number of users on / off (makes it slightly slower showing how many users are on)

First priority (as I want it  :P ) is...
-RSS/XML feed for it (for me mainly but someone else might like it - I wanna show who's online/been online on my site). This will probably require cron scheduling

Hi, just about to install you upgrade, but i'm wondering if it's possible to keep the strange underline color - i kinda line it, looks quite good on my forum.
What part of the index code would I need to modify to do this :)

one question from me as well.

is it possible to show the hidden username in ITALIC? instead of writing (hidden) coz this just takes place nothing else.

Yep, though this won't be the default - I like " (hidden)".

Install the latest version, there are some new entries in the language file - uot_hidden_start and uot_hidden_end - one is prepended and the other postpended around the hidden users name. Default is to postpend " (hidden)", but now at least you can change it yourself  (hint - just set _start = '<i>' and end = '</i>')
