My server IP is always being blocked by spamhaus

My server IP is always being blocked by spamhaus .org
So I cannot send or receive any mails from [email protected]
It's irritating because my users can't use the mail system... don't receive mails from the forum.. nothing

I unblocked the IP on spamhaus for the 3th time this week.
I don't "spam" with it, so I don't understand why it's being blocked all the time.

Tried to contact spamhaus, but that's like talking to a wall lol

Does anyone knows what I can do about this?

If you are on shared hosting then it is possible that someone else on that server has been flagged as a spammer so the whole server is blocked.

Ask your hosts to move you to another server.

I'm on a VPS, so guess I need to wait for my host ... maybe they can just give me another IP

Have you checked with https://www.mail-tester.com/? Someone here pointed it out to me and I sent the results along to my hosting (shared) provider and they solve some of the issues flagged.

Page just keeps reloading .. from 15 to 0, and then keeps repeating

Reply from the host:

i can assure you that we're gonna take action against abusive behavior, should this happen again we can give you an option by using 1 different additional ip address for free.

Spamhaus was the only blacklist maintainer who was cooperative to me. I wrote them that they cannot have any complaint from the IP address my server is on. Turns out they blocked a whole subnet (just like all other blacklist maintainers do) with my IP address in between. They looked it up and confirmed that my IP address was never subject to any complaint. The "solution" was that they split up the subnet blacklisting into smaller ones which then excluded my IP address. Spamhaus has never been an issue to me since then.

But enough other blacklist maintainers still are (i.e. Barracuda) and they neither reply to e-mails nor react to comments you provide with your unblock request. I have given up on those - seems like they only want to do a good job, not a correct one.

Same thing was happening with old host I was using. They were not responding to abuse complaints so one of the lists was blocking their whole range.

1 day later, and the IP is blocked again:

They just keep blocking it, and haven't sent any emails...

I contacted my host again, they are willing to give me another IP address. Hope that will fix it...

Okay so, my host investigated this issue, and found the problem.
My server IP was always being blocked because I had no DMARC in the DNS

By adding _dmarc.supportforum.be. in the DNS the problem is solved.

glad you got it sorted. however, that is something that the host should have found the first time you asked them for help. it is a host server setup issue and there is nothing you can do about it.

That's DNS entry and requires specific email address. It's really not something that is hosts responsibility and if you were using external nameservers something out of their control to begin with. Most sites are not going to have this and I find it odd a IP was being blocked because of it, I'd keep an eye on it.
