Hello,
I would like a custom registration form before someone can get approved on our forum. This is what i need to say, one is a drop down menu. thanks for the help and info.

What you could do is the following:

ACP > User Registration Settings
Set it to Account activation by admin

ACP > Users and Groups > Custom Profile Fields
All the settings needed are there.

"Display on registration screen:"
"Required field:"

Under Custom Fields
The bottom line where it asks Entries options... what if I am only asking for a Boat Name? There are no options otherwise

now i see in the board index, down where topics are i see who the moderator is for each one and it list same person like 4 or 5 times, how to i remove that

Not sure i fully understand, but check:
ACP > Load settings > Enable display of Moderators > No.
