Newly Registered Users

Post by saltymichael »

I believe I set up forums correctly but what I have seen is that Newly Registered Users can see the forums, they have to wait for admin approval before activated.

WHAT I WANT, is NRU can NOT see forums or anything until activation and approval. How can I set that up?

Greatly appreciate the help, love phpBB for sure, just have to learn it.

Set groupforum permission can see forums for the NRU to NEVER (and also for anything else you don't want them to see).

However, you mention "until activation" : that implies you don't want guests to see anything either.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

If a Newly Registered User cannot see any fora then how can they make a post that needs approval?

You've got a valid point.
But me thinks he means registration being approved (or to use other wording : activated).
probably a confusion between the NRU and "pending activation".

Correct I will get an email and a message on the board itself when someone new registers, i absolutely dont want them to have access to anything on the forum, not even see it till they become active, which i have that set to Admin approval. I believe when i changed NRU to select NEVER then it is how i want.

We have a website that non registered guests can view and send me messages from then the forums are strictly for members.

No - to do what you want you need to change the Guest group to never and the NRU to be able to see/post to whichever fora you want them to.

one more thing, sorry...

is there a way when Guests and NRU can not see stats at bottom, meaning the usernames and such?

But others (members and admins) can see them
