nongraphical viewtopic after host change

Post by zlisiecki »

Hi,
I'd like to test new software on my home computer before installing it on the production server.
I copied the database, all files, deleted cache/* and adjusted script_path to

Code: Select all

/~my_user/myhome_dir/my_new_forum_dir
Well, the forum is starting, but after login it issues

Code: Select all

trigger_error(INSECURE_REDIRECT  ....
in includes/functions.php line 1784 If I whipe this error the forum goes forward, but into a text mode. No graphical mode is seen. I cleaned all cookies too.

How could I prepare my testing version at home, so that it works that same as on the production server ?

What are you using to test it on your "home computer"?

Well, I try to use my head, but you probably mean the phpbb software version. This is the current one - 3.3.0, but I remember, I had similar problems with former versions too. Oh, the browser is the firefox.

I think david63 is referring to the software used to run phpBB on your PC.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

I see, this is the current SuSe Linux.
Oh, well, I have both Linuxes on on my home PC and on the production server.
And the browser does not matter, with chromium is the same.

And do you have something like XAMPP installed to be able to actually run phpBB?

Please excuse me. I changes something more, which I considered to be trivial. I addjusted .htaccess file,the section:

Code: Select all

# Apache content negotation tries to interpret non-existent paths as files if
# MultiViews is enabled. This will however cause issues with paths containg
# dots, e.g. for the cron tasks
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
    #Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
I whiped Options on my home PC. The does not work. And this is most probably the cause !

mod_negotiation.c is activated on the production server and on the home PC as well, but on the PC the following error appears in apache log:

Code: Select all

.htaccess: Options not allowed here
, which was the cause,why I commented the Option line out.

I have no XAMPP on my home PC, but on the production server - well, it's possible. How could I check it quickly ?

Do you have any local webserver running on your PC? ( e.g. https://www.tecmint.com/linux-web-server-guides/)

I use apache as a web server.
I am obviously not allowed to use Options in the .htaccess file. I don't know why this error is appearing. I think my apache config files are ok:

Code: Select all

<Directory /home/*/public_html>
                AllowOverride FileInfo AuthConfig Limit Indexes
                Options MultiViews Indexes SymLinksIfOwnerMatch IncludesNoExec
...

Hi, I use LAMP on Suse Linux. Now I changed

Code: Select all

     #AllowOverride FileInfo AuthConfig Limit Indexes
# changed to
     AllowOverride All
in the apache mod_userdir configuration file.
MultiViews don't cause errors now, everything is allowed, but still the forum is in non-graphical mode ! Is this only a question of the web server/browser ?

adjusted script_path to

Code: Select all

/~my_user/myhome_dir/my_new_forum_dir
What exactly are you typing into your webbrowser's addressbar? Do you type in that whole path?
Typically, the home directory, for instance, is not typed into the addressbar.
