nope, not the same!
let me explain: when google_bot comes to a [forum with password] for example with id 20, it indexes that page [f=20].
but can not enter inside it to see its topics, because its password protected.
therefore, it indexes the forum. but can't index its topics!
i know until here.
my question is the technical part of this scenario.
Seriously: why do you always seem to want to have the last word?
Your opening question was nothing more than : can bots index passworded forums' contents? (and contents = topics and posts)
Now you're turning this into a so-called technical question.
For the technical aspect : read the code
For the practical aspect : test it
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

still the same!

my first post still is my question. i explained the whole scenario in this post.
For the technical aspect : read the code
read the code? how do you know that i haven't read the code? so what is the purpose of this forum?

Hi,
if there is a forum [with password], and has full access/permissions to bots, and even its password be publicly shown.
is it possible even %1 for google or other search engines to index the forum's contents and topics?
thanks,
Let's make this easy.
No.

Nothing to explain.
Regardless of what permission you give the bots, they don't have the password. They don't know you're supposed to enter one. They can't go any further.

But it's faintly ridiculous to have a passworded forum and then publish the password for people to see.

Permissions are far far far better. Give permission to see the forum or not. That's it. No need to massively over complicate things.

@php_BB_Lover

Can I respectfully suggest that you do two things before going any further.

1. Install phpBB and find out for yourself how it works

2. Read the manual which can be found here - https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/

As I said before, everything that you are trying to do the hard way can be achieved by using the inbuilt features of phpBB.

it seems that you got the point! good!
lets talk about this a little more.
based on my tests, bots even cant see the topics of that forum directly by their url, because before loading the topics it checks the forum of topics, if it has password, asks the password to show them.
now as you remember my question, the forum password is publicly shown. it might be grabbed by robots. is it possible for robots to unlock the forums and pass its contents to indexing engine?

All things are possible - but many, such as this, are highly improbable.

If this was an issue do you not think that after 20+ years somebody would have already found it?

The point of permissions is that you give forum access to a group. If people are in the group they can see that forum. If you don't want the bots to see that forum, you set their permission to no access. Job done. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing to analyse and more importantly, not annoying your members to have to type a password in every single time they want to get in a forum. Regardless of whether they like it, give it a couple of weeks and they'll be sick of doing it.

Standard bots do nothing more than crawl so that should suffice as answer.
However if someone can make a bot that can search for a password, enter it in the required area, invoke the submit script ... who knows?

BTW: Something to think about
2 pages of repeated and distorted questions for something a simple search (phpBB, Google, Bing , whatever) would have given you the answer to within 5 seconds.

It would only appear in the forum description if you put it there which would totally defeat the whole purpose.

Oh yes we would. This board has almost 400k members, and then there are all the thousands of boards out there. If this was happening we would certainly know about by now.
