I have members wanting to use the YouTube custom profile field but it keeps throwing this message up whenever they try to save their channel name with a space in it, is there a way around this?
The field “YouTube” has invalid characters, only alphanumeric or _,-. characters are allowed and the first character must be alphabetic.

Was the custom field set as URL when you created it?

I never created it, I assume its part of the phpBB software.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You can change the field validation:
ACP > Users & Groups > Custom profile fields > phpbb_youtube - Edit > Profile type specific options > Field validation

I have just changed it to 'any character' and it still does not work.

You need one of the options that included "spacers"

My mistake, I must of deleted that field but I do see it is present here.

Strange, it does not work for me.
It brings up this url https://www.youtube.com/user/Artificial%20Flight and the 404 not found message.

You are talking about two different things.
The original problem was that you could not enter the name, now you have a problem accessing the YouTube channel.

"Artificial flight" is not a user. They need to enter a user name there, not a channel description

So in phpBB, you need to enter:

However, I just had a similar problem with my channel and at first I thought the '@' character was the problem but it wasn't. The only thing that worked for me in the end was deleting the YouTube Custom Profile Field and re-creating it again.
