Now that you mention percussion ;) : The late Jerry Gonzalez was a master percussionist (and also trumpetist).
Rumba pa´ Jerry when waking up gives me energy for the rest of the day.
BTW the percussion seems/sounds simple - take my word for it: it ain't simple (timing and phrasing)

edit: corrected the link

Yeah, I know ..
The 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time („Die 100 größten Schlagzeuger aller Zeiten“) ist eine 2016 von der US-amerikanischen Pop-Zeitschrift Rolling Stone veröffentlichte Liste von 100 bedeutenden Schlagzeugern.

English:
The 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time is a list of 100 important drummers published in 2016 by the US pop magazine Rolling Stone.

Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_100_g ... ler_Zeiten
The list speaks for itself and should also be understandable in American / English speaking countries ...

I read also: In German-Language **)

BTW: Led Zep is the best ( over and over and over ) I´m a great fan. Besides Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, The Who, Genesis, Supertramp, Michael Jackson, Barry White, Modern Talking, Whitney Houston, Bee Gees, The Doors, Rammstein, Kraftwerk - or/and

The Rolling Stones,

Emerson, Lake and Palmer .... and much more.

**) The 50 best progressive rock albums of all time: At number 17 :D Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield. ;)

A very big fan of Bryan Adams. I've seen him perform about 35 times in the last 25 years. Two more concerts are planned for the fall.

I also only have more than 500+ CDs/vinyl by Bryan Adams

Also a fan of Evanescence, Within Temptation & The Kelly Family

Mostly 50-80's rock, a smattering of rhythm & blues, vintage bluegrass....

I just dont understand Bagpipes.
Whats the appeal of a musical instrument that sounds like somebody is molesting a cat?

Wonderful, that's how you could reflect Bagpipes.

Then we might take:
Led Zep
George Michael - Killer (Papa was a rolling stone)
Maze - twilight (feat. frankie Beverly)
ZZ Top - La Grange
Emerson Lake and Palmer
and/or
Kraftwerk - Ruckzuck HD

In this type of topic I very often wonder what generation the posters come from and, of course, their reasons for liking particular types of music.

What generation are you from?
  • The Greatest Generation (1901–1927)
  • The Silent Generation (1928–1945)
  • Baby Boomers (1946–1964)
  • Generation X (1965–1980)
  • Millennials (1981–1995)
  • Generation Z (1996–2010)
  • Generation Alpha (2011–2025)
I’m definitely a boomer but would probably have been, given the choice musically, better suited to Generation X or maybe early Millennial as first and foremost house music is my thing with a smattering of older stuff. I also love the mass participation (raves) and camaraderie that comes with house music as well.

Bagpipes were originally used as an instrument of war, the noise they made was meant as an incentive to battle, motivation for the troops, and intimidation of the enemy making them think the spirits were on their way. They’re first documented in ancient Egyptian history. Nothing to do with animal abuse :D

[*]Generation X (1965–1980)
I was born early 70's so I'm a generation X and my musical tastes span that entire time into the 90's. My early and later teens were during the hair band era of the 80's so not a whole lot of bands from that time that are still mega names. The exception being U2, Metallica, early GNR and early Motely Crue.

I can be happy listening to the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Led Zep, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rush, Metallica, U2 and while they are not in my library some of the many grunge bands from 90's. That is the short list obviously.

Here is one band from that era called Kingdom Come, you will probably only heard of this band if you were young at that time. Criticized for stealing from Led Zep.

There is nothing after the 90's grunge bands that interest me. I went to three seperate Rush concerts in the late 90's and early 2000's. Justin Bieber will not be consistently packing arenas and stadiums over a 40 year plus career.

There is many examples of that from other cultures going back to ancient times, even modern ones with the Germans and the Stuka bomber. I would imagine it must of been terrifying to hear that if you were on the ground.
