Extension Description:
A simple extension that allows users to log in using their email address as an alternative to their username, which is useful when users forget the username they registered under. The existing extension for this purpose, forumhulp/loginwithemail, doesn't seem to work with newer versions of phpBB, plus it operated by modifying core files during install, which is risky and easy to break.

Note: Email Login requires that emails are unique per user (the default setting). You can check this under the ACP > General > Board configuration > User registration settings > Allow email address re-use > should be set to "No". If it's set to "Yes", installing this extension will have no effect.

Haha, gotta admit, I was surprised there didn't seem to be an up-to-date extension for a feature like this.

I'll probably leave this available and supported as an alternative, as it does have 1 feature that one doesn't — it "automatically" handles translations by simply joining the relevant USERNAME and EMAIL text with a slash, which is a key feature for the multilingual forum I moderate.
