Post by StarvingMarving »

Hi I was wondering if anyone can check my forum for any security issues? I want to make sure its all safe before getting ads for it.
Thanks!

What do you consider ‘security issues’ specifically?

If you are using the software and extensions downloaded from here then there are no known security issues

Like user permissions. Maybe I didn't set that up properly or something. I intended users to post anonymously with no registration.

Thanks, that's good to know.

if you allow guest posting you are just asking for a spam fest.
however, spam is not a security issue. just because someone can post without registering does not
mean the board is not secure.

SPAM WILL become a problem if you allow unrestricted guest posting. You need a decent CAPTCHA for registration and Guest Posting. I suggest a good question using the inbuilt Q&A CAPTCHA using a question that can not be googled for an answer. That together with first post approval will make your life a whole lot easier.

well, so you don't need to worry about ads, I don't think your website will get accepted by any of the ad networks until you get a decent number of visitors
