Sending usage statistics to phpBB back end

Post by tgjgold »

hello,

When i first opened the admin ACL panel after a new v3.3.8 install a page was displayed with two options and associated check boxes.

One to allow usage statistics to be reported back to phpBB.
And a second one to allow link merchandising. (Viglink)

I might have cleared both check boxes.

I only see one extension listed in the ACP customize tab.
customize extensions list.png

1. Should there be one for back end statistics reporting?

2. How can I check or toggle the current status of statistics reporting?

I am unable to find anything regarding this issue.

3. Could someone confirm that there is such an option to send data from the app back to phpBB?

thank you

The "Send Statistics" thing is about your install settings. It is a one-time thing, not about usage.

Thank you for clearing that up. i did not read the description carefully and assumed it was the standard track activity request approval.
i'm glad phpBB is not doing that and explains why I couldn't find anything on it.
I would have certainly sent it otherwise.
It might be worth testing how the user interprets it.

Putting 'One time only..." might help.

you are the first person I have ever seen question it.

I can only speak for myself, but I never considered that it was anything other than what it says. sending basic info about the install that was just performed.

Out of interest, and slightly off topic, does anybody look at those statistics and if so what conclusions do they reveal?
