Forum Ranks

Post by Mountaindweller »

To some this my sound like a dumb question, but what is the maximum number of ranks a forum can have? I have in mind a forum with uncommon special circumstances and it may require many ranks. They won't be special ranks and should fall into place easily for my purposes.

I'm sure someone will be able to tell you the database maximum field value but I've got a site with just short of 100 and it ticks along just fine.

I heard KevC call, so my guestimate would be a mediumint(8) ? for rank_id.
Have fun filling that up ;-)

added: yep mediumint(8)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

What do you mean by that?
Vanilla phpBB offers 2 type of ranks:
  1. based on post count
  2. are set as special
How many ranks a forum may have? To be honest.. Don't have a clue.. Not 1 or 10 that is for sure) With extension/s users may have more than 1 rank at a time.

Believe it or not, will be based on books of the Bible. Haven't worked out all the details yet. Thanks!

P.S. They won't be special ranks but based on a modest number of post counts.
