Tufat Flashchat 6.08

Post by Methen »

For those of you that may remember the site called tufat you may remember one of the most poplar scripts was the flash chat 6.08,This chat was a flash chat and had a lot of features including being able to use a java socket server as well as mysql one of the nice features about this chat was in did automatic cms integration, and yes that did include phpbb ,it was also open source, Sadly tufat like so many other sites have banished, But this chat was always a favorite,Sadly since adobe shut down the flash plug in unless you are using a older browser with the flash plug in has made this chat pretty obsolete the only thing this chat needs is to be converted to html5 and a little updating from what I have been told converting the swf files to html5 is not hard if you have the right tools that and a little updating, Sadly that is beyond my ability so if you want to give it a try click that down load link below there are around a hundred or so swf files that need to be converted,Just click link below to down load.

(update) its actually a 146 swf files that need to be updates I did a search for .swf and counted them

Update 2: For some reason chrome is saying this not a safe file which it is if you get a discard notice just click the down arrow and choose keep and it should work fine...

Why, there are numerous Flash to HTML5 converters both online and downloadable?

I know you can do it on your desktop with Adobe Animate, it’s not free but there is a free trial. There are other convertors available too. See: https://youtu.be/SIgW0SvP_6g

Honestly, the loss of flash was a sad day for many older animations and other features of the earlier internet.

I know they are trying to come up with alternates But I have not seen any that will work with the chat yet, I will never understand why they just did not not let someone else continue with it, I mean its not like it would have cost them anything to turn control over to someone else.

Because companies care about profit and they cannot profit on making things easier for everyone else in that regard.

It’s difficult to make a profit on something as buggy as Flash was.

Well maybe someone will get a alternate to take its place and get it to work, I know that several people are working on there own version and I think that is a part of the problem they all need to get together to work on one version that will work on all Browsers and all OS and make it open source.

They'll still try to milk something from the technology down the road. There's a reason why Adobe didn't make it opensource.

Apple doesn’t support it which I guess was the death knell. If you can’t have it on a phone or tablet it’s dead in the water.

They could have at least let other people play with it or have a stab at it.

I talked to some professions that do this for a living and they told me what I pretty much already knew, there is more to is then converting swf to html5 you have to modify the code to other wise it will not know what to look for.

Unless you're willing and able to pay someone to code it for you, you will have to learn both languages to convert it, and no matter what, it will be tedious.
