Of course he is too
It feels like the world is dominated by them, and far too many in the general public end up applauding that.
ssl wrote: Tue Nov 01, 2022 5:34 am It's good he bought Twitter, he just has to send it into space so that we don't talk about it anymore.
Honestly, it's not inherently bad when people talk about it, rather, there are two camps that oppose one another that base themselves on a misconception. Everybody acts like it is going to bring "free speech" to social media with one group applauding that, and the other claiming it's going to be a troll site like 4chan and "ruin" the site.

What neither group seems to emphasize is that Musk does not believe in "free speech" and has little tolerance for critics. Not to mention that he tries to use non-disclosure contracts to effectively prohibit criticism of him and his company.

hmm? that rings a bell concerning a certain individual using the same tactics.
Maybe that trait comes with all the loot. (a notable exception in recent times is a certain B Gates)

I would say that his Powerwall batteries (and associated software) and his cars are not vapourware. They are sound products with good demand for them (even if delivery falls behind demand at times).

No, but he did make nonsense claims about his cars soon being entirely self-driving, which is not currently possible.

Actually, Tesla's is also known for it's autopilot capabilities, not that they're any good: of 392 crashes 273 were Teslas (it's old news and I'm too lazy to search for more recent data).

To stay objective, there aren't that many other brands with autopilot and I have no information as to what the circumstantial causes of the accidents were.

There are companies that are just as good as Tesla. Those accidents are usually caused by a mixture of a malfunction within autopilot and drivers depending too much on it.

Online service Twitter began rolling out its controversial new paid subscription on Saturday.

"Starting today, there are great new features on Twitter Blue," it said in an update that was initially only offered for iPhones.

According to the update, a monthly subscription to the paid service will now cost $7.99 (around eight euros) a month, up from $4.99 previously. The update was ordered by the new Twitter owner Elon Musk after his takeover.

The new subscription is to be a prerequisite for Twitter customers to verify their user accounts with the blue tick in future. In addition, Blue subscribers are to enjoy other advantages, such as significantly fewer advertisements.

Twitter's director of product development, Esther Crawford, explained that the new Blue version is not yet active, but that updates are already starting "because we are testing changes and triggering them in real time".

On Friday, multi-billionaire Musk had fired about half of his 7500 employees.
In an update for Apple iOS devices, Twitter says that users who sign up now "can get the blue checkmark next to their name, just like celebrities, businesses and politicians they already follow". So far, accounts that have already been verified do not seem to lose their blue ticks.

Fraudsters could use blue tick for themselves

The ability to get the blue tick could lead to confusion and disinformation ahead of the US midterm elections. Fraudsters could subscribe and take the names of politicians and election officials. Many fear that the social platform, which is used by government agencies, election boards, police departments and news outlets to inform people, could become unlawful if content moderation and vetting is removed. This is reported by the Associated Press news agency.

Swiss journalist Michaël Jarjour, was informed of his dismissal in the middle of the night.
Anyone who now clicks on the Swiss journalist's private profile receives the information: "Not a twit no more".
According to one of his tweets, the termination email surprised him in the night: "I woke up in the middle of the night, got up to get more water, looked at my phone and realised I was fired."
The media manager had been Senior Partner Manager at the platform for just about two years.

He is a troll and provoker who doesn't know how to run a social media site. Sure, the previous owners weren't that great, but still.

At this stage just about everyone is wondering how long it will take him to crash and burn the whole thing (with most bets being on "not very long").

Twitter has been around 16 years and only made a profit a couple of those years. Einstein said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Musk may be many things but stupid isn't one of them. The people that worked at Twitter if they expected Musk to take over and not make huge changes I think they were naïve. I'm betting it will take two or three years but Musk will shake up the platform and incorporate some of his other technology in it and I'll bet he makes it make money routinely in due time.

If you haven't had the joy you need to drive a Plaid with Ludicrous mode. It's an amazing ride that will set you back in the seat. It puts million dollar super cars to shame. Just my .02 cents.

Still, some do say that Einstein did say this phrase at some point, even if he didn’t make it up. Several online sources cite his “Letters to Solovine,” from the 1950s. Others attribute the phrase to Einstein and say that he used it during the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference, a transcript of which was eventually published in 1975.

In the end, it’s most likely that Albert Einstein did not invent this phrase, though it is possible that at one point he may have said it.++https://jgirlsmagazine.org/2018/03/einstein-really-say/
