phpBB2 install requirements

Post by danieltj »

Does anyone know what the install requirements are for phpBB2? I’ve tried searching but I’m on my phone right now so it’s been tough to find any details about it.

I want to get it installed and then remake it for nostalgia purposes 😂 thanks in advanced!

Have you tried: http://www.phpbb2refugees.com/index.php

They probably have the answers to your question.

This may also be of help (though the page is old): https://home.deds.nl/~clan/phpBB2/docs/ ... ml#require

Every package has docs folder you can find your answer there ;) f.e version 2.0.23

Code: Select all

Installation of phpBB2 requires the following:
  * A webserver or web hosting account running on any major Operating System
  * A SQL database system, one of:
    * MySQL (3.22 or higher)
    * PostgreSQL 7.0.3 or higher (preferably 7.1.x or 7.2.x)
    * MS SQL Server (7 or 2000) directly or via ODBC
    * MS Access (2000 or XP) via ODBC
  * PHP (4.0.3 and above) with support for the database you intend to use above
If your server or hosting account does not meet the requirements above I am afraid phpBB 2.0 is not for you.

Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

And why didn't you mind browsing to https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/blob/release-2.0.23/phpBB/docs/INSTALL.html? Your phone shouldn't make a difference, except pressing CTRL+F might not be so comfortable.
