Are the cookies really cleared ?

Post by 4mpb5 »

I am using 3.3.9

There is a link in the bottom right corner "Delete Cookies" (to the left of "Members" link & to the right of All times UTC+ etc)

I clicked this link & then checked my cookies list in Chrome browser.
The cookis were not cleared. for my forum

Then I did the same for this forum. The cookies for this forum are not cleared either

It is really not a big issue for me as I am really NOT gathering or selling forum member (personal) information but I would like to be on the safe side.

They probably were, but the moment you access a new page or refresh, you'll have new cookies
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

when you delete the cookies you get the popup that asks are you sure, then when you say delete, you get a popup that says return to index.
when you do that, you get the new cookies immediately.
exactly how are you checking to see if it is deleting the cookies?

whatever that is will automatically create new cookies in the process.

Under Chrome settings > Privacy & Security
I made sure the cookies list page was empty
Then I clicked on Clear Cookies in the phpBB app
Then when it asked if I am sure & I said Yes & then went at cookie list , the phpBB forum waas listed there

Then why bother to delete the cookies in the first place ?
Maybe one is initializing the phpBB cookies when they click on the Clear cookies link but not really completely clearing it.

the purpose is to get new cookies not to simply delete them with no replacement.

Many login issues are caused by a corrupted cookie. Deleting the cookies can resolve that issue, hence the Delete Cookies link
