locked out from forum

Post by chaos23 »

After a fresh install, forum doesn't accept the admin user password. I tried to reset the password but mail doesn't arrive. Is there a way to reset admin password directly on database?

thanks

First off, did you try another browser?

Changing the password directly in the database will not solve the issue. (the problem has nothing to do with an incorrect password).
As per Mick, using another browser will use fresh cookies and no browser cache. An alternative to switching browser, is to empty /cache (of your board) and clear browser cache and cookies, and then try again with the same browser.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

And ...?
If board cache is cleared, the problem will probably be solved. And changing cookiename would force everyone to log in so their old cookies wouldn't come into play at all

Why on Earth would you use phpBB3.2?
The PHP versions needed for phpBB3.2 are EOL.

Did you also empty /cache (the board cache)?

Well, IIRC you requested a new password so your old password won't be accepted

I did a fresh install, carefully copied and saved the admin password.
Removed the install directory.

As soon i exit the control panel, it says wrong password.
Cleared all the cache, browser and /cache, tried two browsers... same result...

Hosting: Dreamhost

I have some error in error.log

CHROME GENERATE THIS ERROR

Code: Select all

Anyway i will try to check with dreamhost what could be the problem, but for the time being i can't use for production.

Aside from this: when trying a new install, are you using a completely new database, or reusing the former one, in which case you would need to empty it first.
