ACP> User registration settings> Account activation> No activation (immediate access)

Note: With this method they still have to have a username, password and email address but any made up email address seems to work I just tried it. (you could get emails from your postmaster saying the email was undeliverable if the email address is false) Users can register and post without interaction. You may want to disable “Enable spambot countermeasures for registrations” in Spambot countermeasures as well. Does that do it or do you want guests to be able to post as well? I’ve never tried using this registration method before so I’m not 100% it’s what you want.

The bots will destroy your board though, good luck.

Wouldn't it just be easier to allow Guest posting?

You could try making an extension request.

Perhaps you could make some changes on template and hide the box but enter a hidden email in it that goes to no where?
or you could simply create an email for this purpose :)
I have never tired it , Just an idea

What exactly does the OP want? Verification should not go e-mail when signing up. So he should do what Mick says. It also wants to keep spam away. It should ask a good security question. "What happens when you remove the word peare from the surname of the author of Romeo and Juliet?" There should be a question like. Another?

You could disable registration and allow guest posting. However, if that's not an option for you, it looks like you already have a topic created for an extension request (link). Please continue the discussion there.
