Registration alert

Post by jwDave »

Sorry, newbie! I have set the registration to Admin so I have to approve it. However I do not see how to get a notification via email that a registration approval is waiting. How do I do this? I don’t see an option under notification settings?

Sorry but these options do seem to include an option to receive an email if someone new applies to register? I can see the notification if I happen to login to the forum but I don’t get an email to say someone is waiting approval. Am I missing something simple?

I do get other emails but not if a new person registers and is waiting my approval.

Are you sure? Someone wrote an extension specifically for this.

No, nor me. The same question has been asked a thousand times. See https://github.com/dmzx/notifyadmin, it seems it has been updated for 3.3. Recommend checking with the author here before installing or test on a personal server first but it does mention there that version 1.0.4 on github works with 3.3.

Well, I installed this, but it doesn’t seem to work sadly. Such an obvious requirement I cannot believe it isn't standard!

Isn't that to notify the admin when registration is NOT set to by-admin?

There should be an "Email" column, as well as the "Notification" column on the notifications settings page.

@Brf: You’re correct, my mistook.

I’ve just tested it again and it seems if you set by admin as the registration method you should have the option to add email to the default notification only setting in the UCP like this:

@OP: Do you have that option?

I also receive both emails.

do you have the same email address setup for the board settings as you do in your admin user account?

are you checking that email address for emails?

have you tested that email address to make sure it can receive emails at all?

Thanks for your reply, yes I have only one email account set for everything as far as I know. It is certainly in my personal profile and also in the UCP as far as I can tell.

Account activation:
This determines whether users have immediate access to the board or if confirmation is required. You can also completely disable new registrations. “Board-wide email” must be enabled in order to use user or admin activation.

BTW there's an extension: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... n_control/ which may be of use to you.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
