reCaptcha V3 X Imagem GD

Post by Chico Gois »

Something strange happened...

I had a suspicion that reCaptcha V3 was not working properly as it had an average of 8 visitors.

I changed to Image GD and visitor numbers jumped from 8 to 120+

Strange, I know it may have been punctual but I wanted to share.

If your goal is to facilitate spammers, you should just remove the captcha completely.

I have no doubts in using them, in this case I believe it shows how your forum is being shown to a more serious public.

Brf is right, if you disable the CAPTCHA, you're just going to get a bunch of spammers. Usually spammers trying to solicit porn sites and crypto scams.

The question is not about spammers and how to avoid them. I didn't even mention about.

The point is, regardless of the method used, why this discrepancy between online users, here I am referring to robots.txt?

What is the influence on search engines and indexing?

in your first post you said you changed the captcha to GD. the register bots can solve that instantly.
that is why your registrations went up so far so fast. they are most likely all BOTs.

BRF's post was telling you that if you are going to use the GD thing you might as well just not use anything.

the best thing to do is to just use the built in Q&A anti spam with a non googleable question.

this is about spammers. that is the main reason to require registration in the first place.

luck,
robert

The robots.txt has nothing at all to do with online users. It is an attempt to direct search crawlers which folders to ignore. In phpBB it has no real effect because browsing is controlled by permissions.

Your Captcha type has no effect on online users either. It is only used in registration, unless you are allowing unregistered guests to post. In any case, search crawlers do not register, so your captcha does not affect them either.

Thanks for the explanation ;)
