Convert from dragonflycms to current phpbb

Post by spacie »

Hi all,
I am running a dragonflycms forum for years and maintained it successfully until df-support was stopped due to issues with php-8.0.

By that time I was on dragonfly 9.3 on outdated and insecure php7.3 (as far as I remember). I then received some helpful support to update df to a version that could handle php7.4 as we were not in a situation to migrate to anything else.

Now we need to move on and do some migration to be able to take the next php steps and I would like to migrate to phpbb3.3.
The convertors I found cover some older df to phpbb.3.0.10 and I would give it a try, but obviously php3.0.10 requires a very old php-version that I do not really want to have installed on the productive system (don't know if it would be successful at all).

Is there a way to adapt the converter script to be run under phpbb3.2 or 3.3. fresh installation? Has someone here done something similar for df or another discontinued cms based on phpbb2?

Thanks for any help in this case, I do not like to be trapped in the rabbit hole...

You can try it on a other server or install LAMP (or something similar) on your computer.

Thanks for the help, I will give it a try with LAMP on my Windows desktop, I hope that it can cope with the load.

Will keep you posted, hopefully with success message somewhen, but more likely with some further questions ;)

Best regards
Lutz
