Make visible the content of the messages of a forum only to members and search engines but not to non-members

Post by maupap »

Good morning everyone. Is it possible not to make the content of the messages to visitors not registered in a forum visible but only to members and search engines? Thanks for a welcome answer

Yes you can do that with the permissies.
See ACP=> permissions => forum permissies

Sorry again: can the administrator make only some messages visible to everyone visible and other messages only to members and search engines?

Hello,

Bear in mind that allowing access only to bots and registered users is not a protective measure as anyone can visit the forum using a bot's user agent.

If you post them in the correct forum with the permissies you wish.
You can't give a message different permissies.

Show First Post Only To Guest

Along those lines, there's an extension that will fit your needs, making your forums subjective to Guest accounts however you like. You can enable it for some and disable it for others. Some forum posts you can show the first 150 or whatever characters in the first post, as a tickler, and in others you can show more or less. The extension asks the Guest to login to see more and displays the count of how many comments are already in the topic being viewed.

It doesn't override individual form permissions, which is a plus. It adds to the level of what you're willing and unwilling to show Guest accounts.

We use this extension to boost registration. Because once someone is registered, they're more likely to post. This contrasts to the infinite number of Guests shopping your site or worse, bad BOT guests that are duplicating your forum's content for their own purposes; AI research. They provide no added benefit. At least, if they register you can monitor bad behavior if it turns out that way.

Is this for anti-spambot reasons?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Sorry if I didn't thank you before but I had (have) a slight flu and I didn't see the comments. For Mick who asked me...",-for spambot?" answer..."to increase the number of subscribers to the forum and encourage people to post on the forum. Mine is a forum reserved exclusively for medical specialists which deals with the exchange of opinions and information on clinical cases and utilities relating to my specialization. Do you have any advice to give me to ensure the privacy of the clinical case and the specialist who addresses the case? I was thinking, as it was suggested to me here, to make only the first lines of the post and two or three photos of the clinical case available to the visitor while making the entire post available to search engines and members. But reserve this limitation only for some posts with specific clinical cases. How can I proceed? Thanks in advance to everyone
