Failed to obtain latest version information.

Post by Scorpy »

Hi,
"Re-Check version" option in the Extensions Manager doesn't work anymore. I turned off ModSecurity on the server because I thought the firewall was causing problems, but that didn't solve anything.

This never happened before, by clicking on the "Re-Check version" link I always got the status of all extensions. Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks in advance.

Is this with an extension from the extensions database?
We have made some changes recently to phpbb.com, that might cause this, however we believe this was also fixed around 14 hours ago.
So when did you get this error last?

Yes, I do not use suspicious extensions. Only the official ones, from this database.

I believe we found the issue that is causing this, can you try again to see if it works again?

It works for some extensions (e.g. 24 Hour Activity Stats, Advanced BBCode Box, Auto Groups...), but it doesn't work for others (e.g. Add User, Akismet Anti-Spam Extension, Ban Hammer, Change Post Time...).

This is more likely caused by some downtime we had yesterday because of bots hitting phpbb.com pretty hard. We have made some changes and should now already be much better

It's been happening to me the same way for a few months now, I don't remember the exact start date, but most likely since the last phpBB update.
The platform version control seems to work well, and the one currently installed is 3.3.11, but the extension version control always gives the same error described in the first post.
It's not a big deal since I can check extension versions one by one manually, but before it was obviously more convenient and faster.
