Posting is very slow

Post by Jx80 »

Firstly, my forum loads super fast so no issues there. Browsing is normal. PMs are fast.

But suddenly posting (adding new topics) has become very slow. It takes 5-10 seconds for anything new to post. And making one post uses up to 10-15% of the CPU. Looks like this just started happening in the past couple of days.

Running 3.3.3 on php version 7.4.33.
115k posts, 11k topics, 7k users, ~600mb MySQL db
No extensions

I’m not really sure what to try. I searched the forum here and tried a few suggestions from other older topics but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

edit: added some details.

First check your server error logs for any suppressed errors.

Make backup of your database. Go into phpMyadmin and open the database phpBB is in if it's not already open. Scroll to the bottom, check the "check all" and then with selected use optimize.

You should also check the error log in the ACP. Slow email servers can cause delays like this and if it errors out, those will be recorded in the ACP error log.
