logged in user can't reply or post new topic

Post by paynterf »

I'm a user on the XCSoar.org phpBB community forum, and a few days ago I stopped being able to post new topics or reply to existing topics (even my own). I can see that I'm properly logged in, but when I click on 'New Topic' or 'Reply', the appropriate form comes up, but there is no white edit area - it has been collapsed down to a very small square that won't accept text, as shown in the accompanying screenshot.

Any idea what's going on here? I would post this question on the XCSoar site, but ..... I can't post!

TIA,

Frank

Nothing we can help you with... You need to ask the admin of that board. Only that person has access to that board settings/server...

A user has posted on the site on Februari 3rd

The Contact Us seems to work.

But the board version = 3.2.6 which is really outdated, cookie_secure is incorrecty set to false, templates are missing spaces (e.g. byuser instead of by user)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I did post a message to the 'Contact' site, but no answer (and this isn't an unexpected result, as others have noted that 'contact' queries seem to disappear into a black hole).

I couldn't find post you referred to on the XCSoar site. Do you happen to remember in what subsection it was posted?

And, last question: someone said "nothing we can do - it's up to the admin..." Does this mean there is an admin setting that affects this?

TIA,

Frank

I didn't refer to any post, just noticed the missing space in the topics list (and other places).

"It's up to the admin" probably means that the permissions have been set up that way by the admin and only the admin can edit those permissions.

or
there's an error in the templates,
or
since it's a 3.2.6 board, perhaps it's now using a more recent PHP version not compatible for phpBB 3.2.6)
