not converting :-(

Post by cassie1275 »

Am trying to convert a 2.0 (something) to the only one i can download which is 3.3

Got through the install after some initial problems, cant get back to my old forum because i had to update the php version past what the 2.0 used to get the new install to work.

Did the conversion, clicked all the finish buttons, but nothing has happened and it just goes back to the convert page and the forum says "Sorry but this board is currently unavailable."

What have i done wrong?

Old one was on https://www.caroles-crafts.co.uk/forum/index.php but is not there, unless i roll back the php again, which i can only do for 2 more days.

When solved the problem with this i have another bigger one to convert too before Thursday.

I am a beginner at this, the person who set up the forum originally is no longer with us.

The new one looks fine. Try clearing your webbrowser's cache

Looks OK to me. (but your cookie_secure is set to False (change that to True)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Thanks, now just to make it the right colours.

I was stupid enough NOT to take a picture of the old one when it was working :-(

Saw a nice style in the database and it is responsive, as is our website, so i will probably be back asking how to add that style :-)

thanks for the help.

Thanks again :-)

i am really pleased to see some responsive designs as i had updated all my sites to mobile first responsive using bootstrap quite a while ago. The fact my old forums were not responsive was always a pity but i never had time to upgrade. So i guess i should be thankful my hoster stopped the low php phpbb 2 used

FWIW - All the phpBB styles based on prosilver should be responsive in fact I would think all styles for 3.3.11 are responsive otherwise people wouldn’t use them these days. The ones that aren’t responsive probably aren’t worth bothering with anyway.

You should post in support and link back to this topic. You’re more likely to get a fix there.
