Hi there,
I am trying to create a backup using one or all of these methods. If there is a better method than I will use it.
Putty
Core FTP
phpBB ACP
phpBB ACP directions
Option C: Via the phpBB ACP
1) In the ACP, go to the "maintenance" tab, then "Backup" under the "Database" group on the left hand selection column.
**** I do not see a "Database" group, all I have are admin log, Mode log, Error log.
Putty, I could not get it configured to connect.
Core FTP
I downloaded the FTP config file from bluehost cPanel and can login but I don't find the files listed in Article 1146.
Bluehost support wanted to create a backup for me and was not much help with the other options.

Reason:Solved.
I'm pretty sure you need a founder account to see the database backup option.
If you do have a founder account, check that group's permissions to make sure you have the option turned on.
permissions
administrators
advanced
misc tab
Can backup/restore database YES

Hey,
I not sure about the link you posted because that is Article 1146. If I missed something please let me know.

Yes. I just wanted to make sure you are aware of what the options are for backup as it is outlined in that article. It also includes the 3 ways you can back up the database.
For most host sharing plans, you log in via FTP using the account username/password. You will definitely need FTP access to do a full backup.

Morning
You may have nailed it with needing FTP access. Would you tell me where or how to check or add FTP access please?
I may not have been clear but I have read articles and searched for how to's and while that article is great I tried every option and none of them work for me.
Your hosting provider should provide you with your ftp address. Something like ftp.mywebsite.com. You then log in to that with your ftp client using your login credentials (not phpbb but hosting username/password).

Yep, ok I am way past that part then. So I tried Putty and it reads Access denied.
Either Bluehost or in cPanel I found an article to use Core FTP and downloaded a config file. I can successfully FTP to the website using Core FTP but I cannot navigate the folders or find what I am looking for. Please see attachment.

I'm a little bit confused about your terminology. Core FTP is just an ftp client. Like say chrome is a web browser. You don't log into Core FTP, you use Core FTP to log into your FTP server.
If you are on shared hosting. You won't have SSH access, so Putty is not an option. And remember, that would only be for the database backup. You still need FTP for the file backup portion.
You just need to follow the instructions in the KB article I linked. I think the most easy method is making the database backup via ACP, then downloading those 3 folders and config.php file via FTP. That's it and you are done.
You are correct and I edited it. I can FTP to the website using Core but I cannot FTP using Putty. I created a user in cPanel and that is what I am using and that is where I got the config file for Core FTP.
...most easy method is making the database backup via ACP HAHA believe me that is what I would like but see attachment. I have read that article numerous times and YOU are the person who wrote it.

Again, forget about Putty. You don't have SSH access.
I'm really not sure what kind of "config file" you are downloading for your FTP client. All you need is the ftp server address, username, and password. It's just info that you type in yourself.
Yup, I did write the article. I was trying to make it as easy as possible,... perhaps I didn't do a good job.
Let's make this easy, can you answer these two questions with a yes or no:
1) Do you have access to the ACP?
2) Do you have the login credentials (username/password) for FTP access?
