Permission issue solved only clearing the cache

Permission issue solved only clearing the cache

Hi

The url of my board is www.lordphobos.com

The problem is that the permission set to my groups are not assigned instantly; they hang there until I clear the cache from ACP.
Let's say a give a group permission to use a prorfile field, or access to a forum, or the like. The user will not have that permission until I manually clear the cache in ACP.

If I go in ACP and see the assigne permission to a particular user just added to a group giving a permission, I see this permission set to "NEVER"; then i click on the little link to show the reason behind the permission and it tells me it should be set to yes!

Then I go to clear the cache, and voilà, all is working.

I checked my cookie settings, and they seems right.

What else could be the cause of this isssue?

This problem is becoming a severe issue, I need to clear the cache each time an user joins a group to effectively obtain its permission.
What should I look at to address the problem?

Can somebody help me plz?
I'll give whatever information is needed.

If clearing phpBB's cache solves the issue that would suggest phpBB's cache files are possibly being cached by the server and are only invalidated by deleting them. If you are using OpCache this should not be an issue as phpBB will invalidate them, I can't comment on others.

Disable it and see if it resolves the issue. The jit option can increase performance but since it's off obviously not the issue.

The configuration file for opcache is usually standalone and not available through a control panel. Typically you need root access to edit it. The location will vary depending on your control panel/server setup.

The value for the directive with the errors is usually set to 0 which sets it to no limit.

In my hosting I can only edit this value, and turn on or off the OpCache.
I'll try turning it off.

But what is it's purpose? Will it change something?

OPcache is to improve performance, if you have shared hosting frankly it's odd you would have it at all. A php text script needs to be read from the disk and then compiled into machine readable byte code before being executed. What OpCache does is hold the byte code in RAM avoiding the disk read and compilation for the next execution. Since you need to allocate RAM it's typically not available on share hosting.

For this to work properly the file in RAM needs to be invalidated and read again from disk when the file content changes. phpBB supports this so you probably have something misconfigured for OPcache. Additionally The OPcache configuration in default mode will check the file on disk for the timestamp so there is two ways it should be invalidated.

I cannot disable OpCache, can only enable or disable opcache.jit.

Now I enabled it.

Clearly the configuration is wrong because of those errors so you need to have them address it. I can't say that is going to solve your problem but if something is wrong with a server configurtion it can't be addressed here. Just so it's clear opcache.max_file_size is a directive in the OPcache configuration file.

You can determine if it's extension by disabling all of them. If the problem goes away enable them one by one until you determine which one it is.

I didn't say that at all but based on having to purge phpBB's cache manually and the errors in your error log it would point to a server side caching issue. To reiterate I'm surprised this would be on shared hosting to begin with. If you can't have it disabled to diagnose the issue I don't know what else to tell you other than find a new host. FYI, disabling it is just a matter of blacklisting the path for your files in the OPcache configuration file.
