What are good resources to learn coding?

Post by Robbie626 »

I want to learn to create an extension, but want to know if you all have some great sites, youtube channels, or even books to self-teach PHP and javascript.

That's not really helpful for someone who is just starting out.

Robbie626, there's some good information on extension writing in this topic. I would also check out php.net as well as looking at other extensions that have been created.

Best way to learn would be to start coding and get experience by doing it.

To minimize what is posted in the topic that Kailey posted above:
If you want to learn more about extensions for phpBB - Docs 3.3.x.
Best tool for starters - Skeleton extension or Skeleton extension (Online version).
Get yourself a github account. It will make your life easier.
Some extra info about symfony and twig.
Don't know much about php or javascript pros on youtube (just do a search).
But here is a css one (+ a lot of info about html & javascript as well) Kevin Powell.

By the way.. It's good to have at least one person who has similar views on coding as you do + s/he can lend a helpful hand (of course i don't mean one sided contribution) to gain more knowledge. Even better if you can find a group of good people.
