Newposts or when the last session was done

Can someone explain how the session end time works in 3.3.12 and how it was changed in 3.3.13?

In 3.3.12 I found that newposts showed too few posts (last session got refreshed too fast).

I find that in 3.3.13 it’s the opposite - the session remains ongoing for too long…

Can someone explain the logic in each one and why it behaves like this?

Looks like my session length was 12h, if I understand this correctly - this means if someone renews their session after 11.5 hours it would look like one continous session...

I guess I set this as a countermeasure to the 3.3.12 session length bug...

Is the default session length 1h?
