New user filter

Post by bkelly13 »

Is there a way to filter new user sign ups? To check for humans?
I looked in phpBB 3.3 Proteus Documentation and did not detect this information. The word capchta is not in there.
For example, in the forum ask the user to tell me what is one times three plus one. How would the user get that to me?
And/Or maybe ask the user to send an email to the address letter d followed by digit 1 and use the dot net text after the at sign. The would be [email protected] for my site.
Suggestions please.

It's all built in.
It's worth noting that simple maths questions are easily beaten. You need something that you cannot google the answer to, such as a question about your logo or a word in your board description.

How to configure Q&A
  1. Administration Control Panel (ACP) > Spambot countermeasures> Installed plugins > click the dropdown box and select Q&A (it will be greyed out)
  2. Click the configure button then click add
  3. Add your question and answer (you need a Q&A for each language you have installed) click submit
  4. Click "back to previous page" then click "back"
  5. Select Q&A from the dropdown box (again)
  6. Click submit at the bottom of the page.
  7. Done.
