[Split] Discuss: phpBB 3.3.13 Release

Post by VED036 »

I deleted the files and folders as instructed. Howver, some of the folders which contained certain videos/ images/ audios of mine were not deleted.

At the end of the Database updating, I did receive the follwoing message.
The installer has finished successfully
Take me to the ACP

Successfully updated extension vse/abbc3
Successfully updated extension phpbb/pages
Successfully updated extension phpbb/ads
Successfully updated extension oneall/sociallogin
Successfully updated extension cabot/changelogo
The database update was successful.
The installer has finished successfully…

However, the site went offline.

I did delete the Install folder.

I did once get this notice.
No valid update directory was found, please make sure you uploaded the relevant files.

What could have gone wrong?

I believe the original version was 3.3.11

I downloaded the full version. Extracted the files.

Deleted all the files and folders, except the folders that had to be maintained.

However, I did not delete some folders which contained some videos, images and audio.

Then I uploaded the folders one by one. After that uploaded the files which were not in any specific folder.

Then I updated the Databases as per instructions that came online.

I am thinking of doing the whole thing again, to see if it can cure the error. However, I will await your instructions.

I need to mention that I did first try the phpBB-3.3.11_to_3.3.13 download. However, I think I reverted halfway from that. I do not remember why.

What files and folders did you delete exactly and where, on the server or your computer?
Sorry! My English is bat ;) !!!

I deleted the designated folders on the computer and on the server. And the rest of the files in the server inside public_html.

At the moment, I will be trying to revert back to the orginal server situaion by going back in history. Let me try one more time and see what went wrong.

ADD: I have restored the website to its earlier version. I will try the updating again, after some time.

I think I will try the migration. From phpBB-3.3.11_to_3.3.13

I do not understand. On restoring the website to its earlier version, I find that it has updated to the latest version:

It sounds as though you use the advanced update at a certain point.

Does your /store contain
io_lock.lock and/or install_config.php?

Also you mentioned having edited some files and possibly used the patch files update.
Frankly, based on your description, it's impossible to determine the current state/version of the files.

One thing you have to realise is that the patch method will transfer earlier edits but there is no guarantee that these edits will work as intended with more recent files.

Do you have a files/database backup of your 3.3.11 (before you started any update?)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
