I had a lot of mod done on my phpbb but I understand that it will not transfer over without much work. They were mostly style and security mods.

I ran the forum awhile then locked all the account so it can only be read but not be able to post.

Mods are no more. Alternatives should be done in style or with extensions and customization in my opinion. I must know what's going on but it's possible.

So, I couldn't deal with them for a long time, but maybe the sites in my signature can be a reference. For example, the phpBB Group site has an original style customized based on Elegance. They all do, though.

Before the forum went down, I backed up the db and the entire project. Let me find it and update this topic.

Only the database is needed from your old board. Additionally if you have images/avatars, these files can be kept too.
