Will you pay for writers?

Post by saavannah »

I am just curious. Let's say you start a forum. How will you get quality posts? How can you attract people to your forum? Who will post in your forum? There so many forums out there that are just "ghosts" with no content and nobody visiting.

Normally, depending on the writer level, it cost between $0.10 per post to $0.30 per post and more.

Will you pay for professional writers to write quality posts in your forum?

There is actually a (very) long-running topic on this subject: The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

If you have to pay people to post to your board, you're doing something wrong. ;)

Normally?
I charge at least 5 € per post. (and that's taking into account the Friends discount).

Me? No.
Why would I? In fact members have to pay to read my posts.

BTW, You owe me 10€ as this post contains an excess of quality.

I have a feeling this topic is spam and the opening post is going to be edited with a spam link sometime in the future.

What if it were a short-term plan?

Do you mean a forum post or a long article on WordPress, for example?

That's a great point, why would I do that when I can simply put a natural link in my signature? Smart!

That is what spammers do.
A link in your signature would be noticed by the moderators, while an edited link in an old post is likely to be missed.

Here is an example in a Game forum I visit, where they came back three weeks later and edited in a link:

Spammers don't generally engage, so I don't think you are a likely spammer.
To answer your original question, I would not bother paying someone to post. It is much easier to post myself if I need fake content.

Thanks for the kind words. It's a relief.

to get back to the point, I was thinking about giving it a strong push initially to build a good base of content and get some visitors  That way, we'll have more flexibility going forward.

I no longer think they are either.

I was not expecting them to engage at all and I was very surprised to get a quote notice from them.

Sorry saavannah, I did jump the gun there.

this would be a topic for someplace like TAZ (theadminzone.com) or webhostingtalk and there you will find members who are willing to swap posts, meaning you post on theirs and they will post on yours. I actually think this is delaying the inevitable though. In this modern facebook/redit social media era the only way you will have success is if you have something you are passionate about and you find others who share your passion. If you start a forum just to start a forum and then search for content and posters you will fail.

Dont beat yourself up, anyone paying attention would have come to the same conclusion for a user with one post. The first post is exactly what to expect from modern AI spambots

The post editor prevents this through the edit time configuration in ACP > Posting > Messages > Post settings > Posting > Limit editing time. Unfortunately this is a global setting instead of being bound to individual accounts or groups.

I know, but I do not believe phpBB.com has an edit limit set. ;)

There is an extension to allow for edit time limits to be imposed on a group basis: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... pedittime/

I am not sure how much of that code can be backported into a phpBB 3.0.x MOD though.

However, there is a 3.0.x MOD that allows board admins to give certain groups permission to bypass such a limit however: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... er_limits/
