Newly Registered not moving to Registered

Post by RhodyRex »

I currently have it set up to require 1 post from Newly Registered, which a mod will review and approve. I'm hopeful that upon approval, the user is moved to the Registered group and out of the Newly Registered group, but instead they are either not being moved or they are being added to Registered, but Newly Registered is still their default. I have Newly Registered highly restricted (lots of Never permissions) so they do not get the Registered benefits and still show as NR on the lists.

Any advice?

New people who register go in to both the NRU and the RU groups to begin with.

The NRU group adds a layer of restrictions on top of their RU permissions.

When they meet the criteria to become a 'proper' user they drop out of the NRU group and stay in the RU group.

However, this only happens the next time they log in after meeting those criteria. It is not an automatic process once the one post has been approved.

An easy to test it is to create a new account and post. Log out, log in with your admin/mod account and approve the post, then log out of that and back in with the test account again and it should now be free to post without approval.

Ahh thanks, I will test that out.

Update - you were right. I guess I was being impatient - this makes my life easier, I felt like I had to log in and update every new members.

Thank you very much!
