Style developers and to some degree extension developer will typically be familiar with bootstrap since it's used in so many other projects like Word Press, Drupal etc. Even those unfamiliar with phpBB development will have a head start.

I'm personally not all that concerned with a third party application that takes up a MB or two KB's of disk space if there is good reason to use it. It doesn't add up to more than a few attachments thumbnail for attachment. The one and only concern I would have with bloat is bloated output.

Current version in use is 6.5.1.
4.7 is for 3.3 branch and not 4.0.

jQuery is a component of phpBB core, not prosilver

I wouldn’t drop JQuery.
I like vanilla JS but I like JQuery more.

Can’t wait to see the concept.

halil16 wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2024 12:23 pm I was excited about phpBB 4 and the new style. Now I have done so much and spent time on the frontend that major changes in the backend scare me. But it's good to know that phpBB 3 will be saved for a while longer, so we can slowly adapt to the new version.
There will definitely be plenty of time to slowly transition over to the new style and phpBB 4. Besides phpBB 3 isn't going anywhere either so you're free to migrate whenever you like. One goal of this project is to ensure switching isn't a headache for anyone (designers or admins).
wintstar wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2024 2:26 pm My idea would be that prosilver should have its own icons again and not those of Font Awesome. This would then be a library that does not need to be maintained. Currently version 4.7 is still being used although 6.7.1 is the current version.

Perhaps a side panel would be conceivable with current information on the respective forum, topic or post. Side panels are now also easy to handle in mobile design. The new design should also be easy to customise for your own individual design.
Font Awesome will continue to play a role in the new style. Creating a brand new set of icons is time consuming and also means that if I for example created a set of icons and then decided to leave phpBB and never return, someone would have to step in and create new icons that were required. Font Awesome boasts a very impressive set of highly quality icons so it makes sense to make use of them.

I've updated the first post regarding the new name of the style. Neptune is now locked in as the name for the new style and work has begun on the design phase. More details will be shared in the coming weeks too!

It would be great if the considerations could take into account what people have repeatedly requested over time.

It seems that most requests revolve around easy-to-implement color changes (general and/or per user - also dark and light), adding or changing logos and headers, using your own graphics for icons or logos.

It would also be great to have the option to choose how blocks/boxes are displayed, including the arrangement/movability - similar to what is possible e.g. in the Board3 portal.

A fixed sidebar for individual configurable boxes (for example for a clock, calendar, online display, etc.), a way to fix headers and footers. It would be nice if blocks were collapsible.

This would address a lot of user needs in my opinion.
My 2 cents: Whether an extension is in the CDB says nothing about its quality. It is more important to read the support topics for it. Better to avoid authors who do not answer support questions themselves, who do not update their stuff, and who do not fix bugs for years.

Those last 2 points would require backend phpBB core changes, which is not the intention of the new style.

As Kailey posted below you, most of that is largely out of scope of a new style but considerations will be made when it comes to making the style easily customisable for people wanting stuff like their logo updated.

Do not expect anything new and fancy like a drag and drop page builder; I can say that categorically will not happen with this project.

We're pleased to announce that the new style has been renamed to NEPTUNE! The design process is now underway for Neptune and more details regarding its development will be shared in this topic so check back soon!
Hello.

I'm kind of being nit-picky here, but many sentences in the OP still call it prosilver 2. ;)

That’s fine. There’s plenty of things to work on and renaming every instance of prosilver2 to Neptune is very far down on said list! 🤓
