I am stepping down as Team Leader, relinquishing control, and doing what's best to keep the Team strong. Stepping down is unthinkable to some, but I feel maintaining a devoted and hardworking leadership will benefit the entire project.
I simply don't have the time any more to fulfill my duties. I tried to slog my way through it, but it's not happening. I thought this day might come, so for some time now, wGEric has unofficially been Team Leader in Training. He already has the respect of the MOD Team and the community. He's ready to hit the ground running and possesses all that is necessary to take the MOD'ing community to the next level. I see great things happening in the near future.
Looking back over my tenure as Team Leader, I am quite pleased with what we've accomplished. MODs are now being validated more quickly and more throughly than ever before. Long gone are the days prior to my leadership when the queue of MODs dated back six or more months and was emptied just to give a fresh start. Also gone are certain attitudes from the Team that could tick off MOD Authors and other MOD sites. No need to get into specifics there, we'll just leave it at "things are better now"
I think the biggest accomplishment has been the empowerment of individual MOD Team members. By having trust in the Team members (and a good deal of looking over their shoulders
) we became a much stronger and productive team. It was also expected that members would burn-out from time to time. So keeping the team stocked with quality people able to make the time commitment was key. Of course it was equally important to thank burned out team members for their contributions since they definitely had a lasting effect on the community.
As for the future, Eric will take over today. This is my final post as MOD Team Leader. However, you're not quite lucky enough to get rid of me
I will be staying on the MOD Team in an advisory role. I'll have a front row seat to see all the great things Eric will lead the Team to do. I will also take a final shot at keeping up with my EasyMOD program.
Finally, I just want to thank everyone from the community. During my time, I don't think I've ever had a major blow out with anyone and I think you were all pretty good to me and my team. Much appreciated!
Looking forward to retirement!
