3.3 upgrade question

Hi,

I'm hosted on GoDaddy and usually use the installatron to do the upgades.

Each and everytime I use this method, I loose my site logo and countless other files need to be edited.
For example, the email notifications for Private Message have to be edited since "private" will flag the email into spam filters.

So, what's the easiest method to quickly upgrade the forum (currently 3.3.7) without hours to fixing afterwards?

If you edited core files:

If you are manually editing core phpBB files I prefer to do this manually. You can use a tool like Winmerge to compare and merge. Download the changed files package. You can compare all at once pointing it at two directories. There will be a lot missing files in the changed files side but that is the point. Merge your edits into changed files side and then proceed with updating normally using those file.

It's quite easy if you keep on top of it and have commented your edits to easily identify them.

Do not use the software provided by your hosting to install/update/upgrade the phpBB. Use the official package which are on phpbb.com located.

Minor Updates Within 3.3.x


If you have file edits, use the Changed Files package to avoid having to edit files that haven't changed between your current and the new phpBB version.
