Newly Registered User and SPAMBOTs

Post by LePaul »

This setting has me confused...

New member post limit:

New members are within the Newly Registered Users group until they reach this number of posts. You can use this group to keep them from using the PM system or to review their posts. A value of 0 disables this feature.

I have this set to One.

I'm running 3.3.7

My understanding was that setting this to 1, they could post once but it would have to be moderated?

I am not seeing this happen and I'm getting about a dozen spambot posts a week.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

That setting only moves them into the Newly registered User Group and out of it after the X posts.

You need to also change the permissions for Newly Registered Group.

That's good to know.

Can you offer some suggested settings I should review?

I'm looking through the documentation and basically trying to plug leak! So annoying!

Thank you!

So in here, everything is set to no - all tabs

So I'm curious how these bots are posting - clearly I've over looked something
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

They should be on NEVER rather than NO.

Are you sure the accounts registered after you made the setting = 1 ?

Those are the global permissions, you need to set the forum permissions.
