Removed forums and now the website won't load

Hello,

So I got myself into a situation. I've got this website that's running on phpBB3. There's this part of the website that doesn't serve any purpose anymore, so I tried to get rid of the forums by going to the database in my hosting provider and deleted whole "phpbb3_forums" contents.

I'm no programmer so obviously it was a stupid thing to do but since I deleted this content, the website stopped loading.

Is there any way to fix it so that the website will load even without the forums missing?

Did you take a back up of the database before you deleted anything? More importantly do you have access to back ups of the website at all that your hosting provider may do for you?

The forum thinks it’s been installed but with no database to take data from its returning a php server error so the white page is to be expected.

I've got backup of the whole website but I'm not sure if it also contains the database in question or how to locate it there. If I try to search for "phpbb3_forums" it doesn't return anything so it's probably as part of some file that I don't know how to locate.

I'm sorry but why would you delete directly from the database? You have the option to delete any forums/categories from ACP, without causing any issue.
You will need a sql (db) backup to restore your phpbb board back online...

Backups in this topic specifically refers to database backups.

Check your /store (in the root of your board (where the config.php is)
That could contain the backups of the database you're using (if backups were taken) usually as a .zip but perhaps as .sql

If these concepts are new to you, I strongly suggest you find someone with experience you can trust with your board.

That was probably the worst thing you could have done. It is not recoverable without a backup.

If you don't have a database backup ask your hosts if they do.

Thanks for replies. With help of my friend we managed to figure out the issue.

In the end it had nothing to do with the forums that I touched.

The provider migrated web to another server so I had to change the DNS records.

Problem solved!
